Manuscripts Requiring Page Design/Typesetting:
A minimum of three proofreadings are usually needed for a manuscript
requiring page design and/or typesetting.
For the FIRST proofreading, Tri-State Litho will provide a
bound, laser copy. The author should proofread in detail to include
content, spelling, punctuation, page numbering, ISBN
and Library of Congress Number,
sequence of pages and chapters, placement of photos
and artwork, running headers, title page, etc. This is the time
to make any NECESSARY minor changes.
For the SECOND proofreading, Tri-State Litho will provide a
bound, laser copy. This is usually the last chance the author will
have to proofread for errors.
For the THIRD proofreading, Tri-State Litho will provide
either a digital final proof or a blueline proof (proof of the
negatives used to make the printing plates). This proofreading is
ONLY for page alignment, page sequence, and type clarity. This is NOT
the time for text editing. Even the smallest correction will mean a
loss of time and additional expense to the author since the negatives
will have to be reshot.
When blueline proof is approved, printing can begin.
Camera-Ready Manuscripts:
Blueline proofs of the negatives made from camera-ready copy are to
be proofread ONLY for page alignment, page sequence, and type
clarity. Even the smallest correction will mean a loss of time and
additional expense to the author since the copy will have to be sent
back to the author to make corrections and the negatives will have to
be reshot. |
